The first Dachshund we got, was actually added to our home barely four years ago. For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to work with animals, have a kennel or horse facility. But even after 35 years of working with dogs, I have little experience with a breed that came to capture my heart.
My daughter Bonnie had fallen in love with the little dog called "Weenie" in the Osward cartoon. So she made up an imaginary little black and brown dog she called Slivers. On her birthday in August of 2004, I decided to sneak out and buy her a little black and brown dog. Not knowing who in the area might have little dogs like that, I asked a friend. After all, it didn't need to be a wonderful show dog, just a little pet for Bonnie.
This friend did know of someone with a black and brown dog, so we came to bring Slivers into our home.....

BONNIE'S LIL SLIVERS started something, a passion that culminated in SMALL TOWN DACHS. This barely little 9 pound girl is so much a part of our hearts, we can't imagine being without her. She is our comic relief, dancing and "singing" on command.
When I decided to create SMALL TOWN DACHS, I went in search for AKC dogs that would provide a strong foundation for my kennel. I found a few.......some great, some not so much. The not so great ones were sold on alteration contracts, and I didn't look back. I've since become associated with some of the best people in the breed, and I'm being allowed access to the type of dogs I've always dreamed of.
